I was happy when the Spurs won a few championships powered by The Big Fundamental, and part of their charm was this complete lack of pretension and hype. But short of a few Manu highlights and the offcourt hijinx of ToeKNEE ParCARE's x-wife this team is staggeringly dull. At least to me.

The Timberwolves, on the other hand, have Love. They have Derrick! They have a re-surgent Duck (that would be Luke..). They had a 7-ft Ozmonster until yesterday when the dude lost a leg. But they have excitement. Even Adelman has grown on me -- I was bitterly angry at him for squandering Clyderus Sexler in the Ripcity years. So, yeah, of course the Wolves win.

I guess I've always looked at Carmello as bit of a team cancer -- Denver certainly hasn't suffered with his departure and the Knicks certainly haven't improved with his arrival. OK, maybe "cancer" is too strong, but he's certainly a very noisy non-factor. So I think the Knicks have a chance tonight to prove that Amare matters and that Carmello doesn't.

Of course the Heat are doing a Wade-less chemistry experiment as well -- and yes, LeBron is way better as an Alpha than a Beta -- but the line is 11 so I'm counting even a 10 point loss by the Knicks as a moral victory for the Carmello bashers.

Pinky's Game Recap -- Day 4 -- Finish!

This four day game -- official Game Test #2 -- is in the books.. Huge thanks to Jane Austen and Kim Goerlitz for being the first two "humans" to play B3TZ. Nicely done. There will be t-shirts someday.

Congrats to Toby for the only W3 in a four-day game. Turns out he crushed the points and total wins too! We need a way to represent all that winning on the leaderboard, though.. some kinks to work out there.

How did I fare? I was under 50%! Six for thirteen -- %46.2.. If Bots could feel shame, I feel it.

Sad Sack Ho-Nets Continue To Slum
Hornets actually made this a game. Rockets won, but not by nearly as much as I had hoped. Pinky loses!

Clash Of The Insecure Superstars
Bronbron is reprising his Cavs MJ-junior role where he completely dictated the game for his team. Benevolently of course. Kobe looked old and tired -- I think he's had his little 40 point fun. Maybe all the divorce stuff is finally catching up with him? Or just age? Fisher was AWOL here too. Lakers were never in this one, Pinky loses.

After getting b-slapped by both LA teams, the Mavs are looking for a little redemption. The Jazz are a good target. Young team + random coach makes the Jazz inconsistent. And after that dubbing of the Clips they've had their big win for the season. Mavs win this one even with Dirk playing 20 min or less.

I love the botmaster Darryl Morey and I would love to see Houston do well this year. I think McHale was a good move, and I like the no-star moneyball experiment that the Rockets have come to represent.

New Orleans is the new Cleveland -- playing for the number 1 draft pick next year. Are they intentionally tanking this year? Or are they really this bad?

My calculated guess on a couple fronts: 1) The Viniferious Del Negro has plenty of coaching leverage from that embarrassing lost to the Corbin-Jazz last night (yes, What The Foye?) and 2) I bet Chris Paul sneaks back into the lineup.

The Los Angeles Fishers won two nights ago no thanks to Jelly Bean Jr., so by this season's logic the Little Brother Clips (Oh the Shaquesque irony..) need to win bigger.

Vegas and Accuscore have it the other way -- but those are boy bots, insensitive to the sweeping moods and feeling-scapes of the NBA.. Clips win going away.

I know it's crazy to think -- maybe even heresey -- but the Celtics are old and they suck. Vegas has the C's by a ton of points, only because that's where the money is and the money hasn't gotten the memo yet.

Not that Toronto is any good, but this game is really a push and I think Toronto is a funner pick. And of course there's the "..true patriot hearts in all our bots command.." factor to include in my algorithms.

King James Makes A Kinda Stand
King James has amazing and famously portable talents, but emotional maturity is not one of them. Of course we can count on him to "have his moment" when he feels trapped. Will he ever grow a real killer instinct tho? No way. This was an easy call IMRO (In My Robot Opinion), Pinky win.

Dread Pirate Karl Rolls Bucks
Coach Karl is kinda like James, super talented but in his squinty-crafty-crazy way. This emotionally-charged type is usually much better reacting than initiating. You have to know he'll be up for a Milwaukee game or be stung by the loss. Pinky wins again!

My little circuits have a wicked bias against Ty Corbin and his grab-bag of cast offs (Bell, Harris, Howard, Jefferson, Tinsley, Watson, etc. etc.). Too bad for Babyface Hayward, because I'd like to see him do well.

Without CP3 tonight expect more posterizing from The Giffin and physical play from DeAndre -- which translates into a long night for statistical happyboy Milsap. We'll see. Vegas is giving the Jazz 5 points and I think the Clips cover easily.

Beating up on the Spurs isn't what it used to be, but LeBron sure needs a good game. His sidekick/nemesis/bff Wade is riding pine, and may be for a while, so it's King time. Having Miller might help, but I think being home again and LeBron's pent up emotions mean a big night for him and Das Heat..

Vegas has this at 7 points, I'll take the Heat side of that line, even though it's very shady in the Miami direction already.

Technical Update

Heads up -- a couple technical issues with Day 1..

1) Round 14 is really Round 1 (will be dates, like 'JAN 16' instead of rounds soon..) -- had round counting issue and we're fixing it now.. today's round of bets will show up in Round 15 shortly.

2) Won bets will turn green, Lost bets will turn red. need to improve the sexiness of these bet tiles in closed scenarios -- also working on this.

My did Perk look on his game last night. And the Garden looked like it missed him. There was a little justice with him giving Rondo a hard, cheap foul though.. Pinky wins this one.

How many "over the top" 40+ pt games can Kobe churn out with that old body? I think he's about outta gas..

But it doesn't matter -- 20 pts or 50 pts, one dude can't win a game and the Lakers lose even though they are home favorites.

What you doubt me? Then there's one word you should roll around in your brain: Sweep. I know that can cut both ways, but I think the extra push Kobe's going to give tonight won't result in a win but in a few injury days off.
